I don't know if I've said this enough but... HAPPY OCTOBER! For me, it's just a peaceful, happy and beautiful time of year. My husband and I were married in October and will celebrate 21 years on the 5th. I doubt we will actually "celebrate". It will be more like sitting at the kitchen island, eating take out Thai food with homemade cocktails. We of course will be watching the Thursday night NFL & college games. Very romantic, right?
A Kansas City October means the weather cools off so we can sit outside by the fire pit and watch football on our outdoor TV. At times I've almost driven off the road staring at the different color leaves on just 1 tree. I love the sound my tires make when I drive over fallen leaves. And the best part... I can cover up the extra weight I've gained with bulky seaters and comfy leggings.
As I am writing this I asked Siri how many days until Christmas... 84 days! It actually sounds like a lot , but we know it's not. Soon it will be Halloween, then those commercials will start. You know the ones I'm referring to. Peter comes home for Christmas, it's snowing, he makes coffee and the the smell wafts up to his parents bedroom waking them from a deep slumber. "The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup".
I went straight to Amazon to highlight some gift ideas over the next 84 days. I plan to share items I would buy for myself or a family member. I do buy things for myself when Christmas shopping. I'm not proud, but sometimes when I cannot sleep and I've had a few glasses of wine my fingers get a little greedy . Online shopping is key for me and I can get a lot done in the wee hours of the morning. So here is a little list of some items I found last night. Look for more "lists" over the next couple of months.
Who wouldn't love this? I soooo would AND so would my 12 year old daughter. Take a photo and print it, BAM! I think my daughter would go through the photo paper quicker, but how fun to have some good old fashioned Polaroids? The best part is the smell and the shake, shake, shake.
This next one is just so unique. My favorite part, it lights up. And look at the price...for $20 I can think of a lot of people to buy this for. It's something you can leave out all year and celebrate any occasion, even when someone actually changes the toilet paper roll.
Confession time- I still have to count on my fingers. I am just not confident in my addition skills. I feel like it's always best to just save the brain power and use the fingers. I am not writing this for giggles, it's 100% true. And this, my friends, is the reason I was unable to help my kiddos with their math as early as 3rd grade. So this t-shirt just speaks to me and I think it's really darn funny.
News flash- we all may need to buy this game ASAP. I have a group of friends that would eat this up. What a perfect game for the adults after the big turkey meal is over, just be sure you get the kids set up with watching ELF before starting. It's also a great hostess gift. I know if I were opening a little gift after I hosted a party, I'd be giving big props to the smarty pants that brought it for me.
Time for a quick story. Our oldest, my sweet Caroline, is a living example of the fruits of the spirit described in the Bible. She epitomizes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.We knew she was something special from the beginning, but now at 19, she is extraordinary. As a freshman in college, in her dorm, she ordered this precious gift for me for Mother's Day. I can't remember a more treasured gift. I am almost afraid to wear it for fear of losing it.
That's all for today folks. I hope something in my "research" speaks to you. You can bet I will be up doing some more tonight. Well, after I watch This is Us of course. Have a great weekend, relax.
Be kind & love others,
